The 2014 Dodge Durango SUV and Ron Burgundy are both in a new series of commercials that are being introduced on YouTube. As a tie-in to the upcoming film, “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” Chrysler has enlisted the famous anchorman to sing the praises of the new Dodge Durango, comparing it to a single horse. We at Dick Poe Dodge agree with Burgundy's premium choice in vehicles.

Kicking the campaign off, Chrysler's marketing director said that there will be as many as 67 thirty-second spots involving the fictional news broadcast legend.

In the first video, Burgundy addresses a white horse, saying, "Look at you; you're worthless,"1 because of the Durango's superior 360-horsepower engine. In another, Burgundy boasts about the 0.1 cubic feet of glove box storage capacity and how you can fit a hammer and 70 packs of gum, exclaiming, "Is this a gumball machine? No, it's a Dodge Durango!"2

Chrysler's promotional antics in this marketing campaign are not only hilarious but also telling of the car's features and impressive design. Chrysler hopes that the film's forthcoming aggressive advertisements will have a halo effect on consumers who have seen the YouTube advertisements and, in turn, will have proved to be a good follow-up to their other successful marketing efforts.
